Top-rope course

After the course you're well prepared to take the top-rope certificate test, which is free for our course participants. Others can take the test for NOK 250.

The course gives you a thorough introduction to belay technique, use of equipment and safe behaviour at the climbing centre. You learn to look after both your own and your climbing partner's safety, while gaining insight into common risk factors associated with climbing. Our instructors provide safe and practical training, where you get to try yourself out on the wall along the way.

Although this is primarily a belay course, you also get an introduction to basic climbing technique – and practice in cooperation and communication with your climbing partner. The course suits beginners and requires no prior knowledge.

Equipment hire is included in the course price. After the course you can train for free with a rope for two weeks with us – rope, belay device, harness and shoes are included.

After completing the top-rope course, you can take the next step with a lead course.

On the lead course you learn to climb and belay on lead – that means you clip the rope in as you go while moving up the wall, instead of having a ready-rigged top rope. This gives more freedom, but also requires more technique and confidence.
