SHRED: How to look after your ski goggles
Never touch the inside of the lens, especially when it's wet. Here are the tips for a long life for your ski goggles.
Most important of all: never touch the inside of the lens, especially when it's wet. The inner lens is extremely fragile since it's treated with an anti-fog coating that can easily be damaged.
Caring for ski goggles on the slopes
The golden rule is simple – fog-free goggles are goggles that stay on your face. Avoid lifting the goggles onto your helmet or hat in demanding weather conditions.
- Avoid lifting the goggles in bad weather, so the foam doesn't get wet.
- Cleaning the outer lens: use the soft goggle bag (turned inside out) to wipe the lens.
- Shake off moisture and dry gently. You should only touch the inner lens if absolutely necessary – then pat very gently with a paper towel. Never wipe a wet lens, as it can damage the anti-fog coating.
Maintenance off the slopes
- Take the lens out of the frame and let both parts air-dry in a cool, dry place.
- Check regularly for scratches or wear.
- Clean the outer lens with a clean goggle bag turned inside out.
- Clean the inner lens gently – only when it's completely dry.
- Store the goggles in a protective case, shielded from direct sunlight.
